Laura San Giacomo
San Giacomo's first television appearances were three episodes in three TV series in 1987. Two of her most notable appearances on Crime Story (Season 2, Episode 13) in 1988, as Theresa Farantino. In Miami Vice (1989), she appeared in the episode "Protected Witness" Season 5, Episode 21, as Tania Lewis. One year prior to their wedding, Cameron Dye, her potential husband, appeared in the Miami Vice episode. She had previously been a regular on All My Children, playing the role of Louisa Sanchez, a Latina common-law spouse of Mitch Beck, (Brian Fitzpatrick). Her appearance on the show threatened to disrupt his relationship to Hillary Martin (Carmen Thomas). But, San Giacomo was first recognized for her acting in Steven soderbergh's Sex videotape, Lies and Sex (1989). The film also marks her debut as an actor credited (her role in the film as Sandy in the 1988 film Miles from Home was not mentioned in the film). [8] The film received an Golden Globe Award nomination and the Los Angeles Film Critics Association New Generation Award. The film was awarded the Cannes Film Festival's prestigious Grand Prize, the Palme d'Or.In 1990, San Giacomo played a supporting role as Julia Roberts's character's wisecracking roommate Kit De Luca in Pretty Woman. It was a huge success and grossed $178 million. In the Stephen King TV mini-series The Stand, she played Nadine Cross opposite Rob Lowe.
